Actor Alec Baldwin is about to be a dad again at the age of 59. He and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, are expecting their fourth child together this spring.
With a house full of toddlers (Leo, Rafael, and Carmen), Alec recently opened up about the biggest challenge he’s been facing as a father of so many young children.
While Alec loves spending time with his kiddos, he’s realized that no one compares to Mom. “Being a father can be very challenging because kids are obsessed with their mothers,” he told People. “I’m in a room with my kids and I’m doing really well until my wife walks in! They just dump me.”
Many other parents may totally understand Alec’s struggle. I know when I visit my brother and sister-in-law, their daughter favors Mommy many times. But Alec isn’t beating himself up over their preference for his wife. “That’s just how it is — there’s nothing I can do about it!” he explained.
Alec also gave some advice to any other new dads out there who might be experiencing the same “lack of love” that he gets when his wife is also present. “My advice for new dads: If your wife is a great mommy, appreciate that and enjoy that,” he said. “That’s a great thing to have.”
In the video below, you’ll learn more about the different ways Alec and Hilaria parent their children.
