Classic Hotfix – Demoralizing Shout/Roar Generated Too Much Threat

I mean, didn’t they find these issues and their solutions like 15 years ago? Are they rolling out hotfixes in a “phase” schedule as well? 🙂

Paladins can now out-threat any tank now, in both single target and aoe. Thanks blizz 🙂

Probably in subsequent builds, but who really knows. You mess with one thing in a program, it somehow screws up 10+ other things.

I mean aren’t you supposed to hold dps for 5-10s anyway? Gives the tank time to build threat and set up their aoe(warrior, rend on all the mobs)

You are aware we aren’t playing a copy of classic, right? They rebuilt it within current WoW’s infrastructure and had to reverse engineer with the data they had available. With the help of community reports and fact checking they fixed most glaring issues but will still find ones like this later down the road.

They specifically said they’ll fix so they match the 1.12 client. That means the Classic version (which runs in the modern client and not the actual vanilla client) had had a wrong version of these things vs the reference 1.12 client and just now they found it – and are fixing to work exactly as it worked in 1.12.

Great, so now tanking as Warrior is even more of a joke. I already spend enough time chasing mobs trying to taunt them because of rtard dps bursting them.

dont group with morons, or if you do, tell them to run to the tank if they pull aggro. and not to dps instantly. this is more of a “you” problem tbh.

As a developer, I’m all too aware of whack-a-mole programming; really, really fun to troubleshoot and debug :)r

I didn’t keep up with Classic development so I wasn’t aware of this. In hindsight, of course this makes sense.r

Yes, this makes sense as well. They might have recreated Classic nearly 1:1, but the various configuration values still need to adjusted.

This was in the game until the BC pre-patch… I remember having warriors spamming shouts and tanking the adds on Nefarian fight on the throne.

Nobody said it shouldn’t generate threat, it just did too much. r

This isn’t something to be proud of. In Classic most of the dps classes can out-threat a prot warrior, it was never about how much damage you can do, it was about how much damage you can do without pulling aggro. If you got aggro from a boss in Classic and even in BC it’s not the tanks fault, it’s yours because you should have watched your threat.

I’m so glad to see that me as a warrior now in the future wont get invited to groups. As the threat we generate already is way too low with the shout. Guess we’ll see them only in raids unless they have friends willing to go play with them. I know i know, classic is all about finding people and yada that and yada that, but we arent in 2004 anymore and people just take whatever is convenient for them now that we know so much about the game.r
r
Prot paladins are now the class to go to because of concentration & the threat increase they can get.r
r
It’s already as bad as it is for warriors to get into groups as dps.

If you can’t get into dungeon parties as prot warrior you are probably doing something wrong. Also as a tank you really don’t have to look for a group, you should make your own.

r
That is for Raids, not dungeons. Those guides are optimized for what u want while raiding. The best dps in dungeons are mages because they can aoe down everything. r
r
Also as i mentioned in my comment i said that warriors are only good for single target tanking now with this “hotfix” being pulled outr

If you read what i wrote i said that warriors already have a hard time as it is to get into dungeons as DPS, and with this “hotfix” it will make it even harder for them now. And “you have to make your own group” I’m starting every single group that i run in dungeons with. and i didnt say there was a issue getting a group as a tank, i said getting a group as dps is already as hard as it is, and with this nerf you will have even less of a chance since holding threat on aoe will be close to impossible unless they hold back completely and focus mainly on singletarget. r
r
As warrior tanks are the best when it comes to singletarget tanking.
