Ironically, I find today’s stories in WoW much more “comic”-esque. And stories back then more “realistic” ?
Edit : In fact, I think they went with the “There is always a bigger evil” common trope a bit too long, and now, WoW migrated from something like medieval heroic fantasy to spaceships and tanks… From a time where heroes could be killed by mere soldiers, when now… Seriously, all “important” character is overpowered af.

( Except Vol’Jin. :'( )

If you read the entire article, it sounds to me like they’re ‘weaving out’ Sylvanas, and maybe Saurfang. Sounds like they’re pulling a Star Wars on us. Say goodbye to the old guard. This expansion will change everything.

u201cAs a decade or more has gone on, the sensibilities of the audience have gravitated more towards thoughtful, compelling narratives, and we’ve been able to start to evolve and follow suit and start telling those more with this game.u201cr

I love WoW, but I didnu2019t sign up for u201cNed Starku2019s beheadingu201d in my fantasy escapism, in a medium where Iu2019m asked and invited to u201clive inu201d the world.r
r
Iu2019m keeping the faith, because other elements of this interview point to things I do want (mechanically united factions: u201cyounger playersu201d wonu2019t feel a need for the separation), but maaaan, I really donu2019t want A World of Ice and Firecraft. Shock-negative feels need a promised payoff of triumph. Thatu2019s an unwritten rule of this genre and medium.

To be honest, WoW always did that. Catched the wave of steampunk with adding Gilneas and worgen, and later the trend of Asian themes with MoP. If people ask for it, they are going to give them.

u201cWe knew that some players were gonna feel exactly the way Saurfang was feeling, some players are going to feel like Sylvanas, and we wanted to use that story as a vehicle to remind them, this is war.’r
r
r
Nnn… really not comfortable with the potential thread that u201cboth sidesu201d of the horde schism deserve equal representation as encouraged player types.r
r
The u201cloku2019tar ogaru201d horde can and should be encouraged to live on and thrive, they should triumph and be encouraged. Their triumph, and the service of these charactersu2019 players doesnu2019t necessarily have to come in stories that legitimately and understandably upset other players.r
r
The u201cdeath to the living/can you hear the screamsu201d horde is an evil that must be reserved for PVE elements. Thatu2019s pure evil and in serving horde players this should not be encouraged in an audience that can, will and has taken u201cimmersionu201d too far. I have faith that WoW realizes this, because u201cyaaaa hate those other players raaaau201d is not sustainable, nor should they try to sustain it.

It is as bad ad I have feared… they go the full GoT route and will fail of course and by doing so destroying everything what players loved about the game, till it is unrecognizable.

It hurts me so much … wow has been a positive fantsy world for me… the comic look, the war was a game, not realism. I don’t want to play call of duty war crap here, I want to see the positive sides of people, characters and events.

I want to save the people, save the world not seeing it destroyed. Wrong direction Blizzard, but as allways you won’t listen and after 2 years yous cratch your head and wonder what happened.

That also means we won’t get a positive change in events. No new world tree, no new capital, as this would be a “more of a hyperbolic fantasy” that is appearently no longer right for the time…

Strange that games liek Mario and Zelda, who do exactly the same since nearly 30 years still are great and poeple want them to be like they have been.

The Daily Mail? So Garrosh did nothing wrong to defend his homeland and there are too many immigrants in the Horde I guess, lol.

Ehh, if Wowhead can use, say, Polygon, there’s no reason they can’t use The Daily Mail as a news source.
