I told you all about my Food Lion Southern Women’s Show Taylor Hicks experience, but I wanted to be sure to tell you about my other Food Lion show experiences too. All day long they had cooking demonstrations of easy to prepare recipes, made fresh with ingredients readily available in Food Lion stores at great prices.

Food Lion nourishes my family on a daily basis through its fresh, affordable food products, and so I was excited to get some new recipe ideas and tips.

With two stages showcasing events (the Fresh Flavor stage and the main stage), there was always something going on and there was always a full crowd in attendance.

We Food Lion shoppers love our Food Lion!

In fact, I chatted with a few people to see what they thought of Food Lion, and I wasn’t at all surprised at what I heard. A few people mentioned how nice the produce section is, and I have to agree. I love that there are totally separate areas for the fresh goodies needing cooler temperatures and moist environments (like peppers and greens) and those needing more room temperature conditions (like onions and potatoes). I really appreciate Food Lion’s efforts at maintaining optimal freshness.

A newly married couple told me they love it because there are always plenty of registers open and there’s often an employee there to expedite customers to the shortest open lane. One gal told me it’s the only grocery store she shops at because it’s far and away the most affordable.

It was fun meeting so many other Food Lion fans!

Along with watching Taylor Hicks make his jalapeno poppers, I saw cooking demos for these Grilled Ham, Pineapple and Cheese Paninis, which are totally up my alley.

We also caught demos for Eastern Style BBQ Flatbread Pizza and a Backyard Shrimp and Apple Salad.

You can check out a bunch of the Food Lion Southern Women’s Show Recipes on Food Lion’s site!

Along with cooking demonstrations and recipe samples, there were Cheerwine floats to try, Food Lion swag to bring home and interactive food games to play on the main stage.

One of the recipes prepared on the stage was based on customer interaction through a social contest. How cool is that?! I played along too!

I got a huge kick out of the Food Lion Face Off, a twist on Family Feud. The first question was to name something that’s scoopable, other than ice cream.

How fast would you think under pressure?

They also had a Chopped Challenge with competing chefs!

I really appreciated how much care Food Lion put into ensuring their Southern Women’s Show events were relevant to their customers, and it’s just another example of how Food Lion plays such an active and important part in the local community.

And when I left the show, I drove back to Greenville, stopped for a quick bite to eat, checked out the weekly deals and ordered my groceries through my phone. Online shopping with pick up or delivery makes shopping at Food Lion all the more convenient.

There’s just so much to love about Food Lion!
