Fortnite’s 100-player Battle Royale mode is free for everyone next week

Epic Games has revealed that its recently announced 100-player Battle Royale mode for Fortnite will be made free to play as a standalone game for everyone following its release on September 26. The Battle Royale mode has been in public testing for the early access title on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. To be fair, the new mode looks pretty fun, and I’ll definitely be giving it a go next week.

Fortnite’s own take on the Battle Royale formula takes the large-scale last man standing game mode popularised by PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, and combines it with the cartoon-like destructible environments and crafting elements of Fortnite.

The new Battle Royale mode will be released for all and sundry on September 26, which is next Tuesday, people. If you’re intrigued by the game, this could be a good means of giving it a go while it’s still in the early access phase of development.

Fortnite is currently in early access on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Mac. A full release is planned for late 2018.
