Pregnant Mom Poses With Bees In Maternity Photos

When she’s not blogging for the ‘net, June loves cuddling with her cats and reading in her library at home.

After suffering her second devastating miscarriage, Emily Mueller needed to find an outlet for the grief and pain.

The 33-year-old and mother of two first made a connection to bees when her dad became involved in beekeeping. After his stroke, he could no longer care for them, so he passed down his equipment and knowledge to her.

The expectant mom from South Akron, Ohio, has been a full-time beekeeper for the past five years. When she got pregnant with her third baby, she decided she wanted a bee-centric maternity photo shoot with honey bees, as they represent the cycle of death and new life.

During the shoot, Emily’s husband released 20,000 bees. As she held the queen bee in her hands, the others swarmed on and around her baby bump.

Since Emily was already so skilled with bees, she knew she had no allergies or adverse reactions to their stings. Taking extra precaution, she also consulted with several doctors before the photo shoot.

The photos are simply surreal, and she’s well aware that people may judge her for them.

“I know a lot of people are looking at this video, thinking, ‘This lady is crazy,’” she told Inside Edition. “And I understand completely. Many years ago, I was afraid of bees, too.”
