I do wish people would stop this. BFA already destroyed enough specs, don’t let the devs “Balance” more of the specs.

Nice way to sledgehammer nerf the AoE of unholy DK’s because of this article. Nice one Wowhead.

I don’t see how that warrants a nerf, given how lacklustre your single target DPS is relative to most other classes in the game running that build. If it were truly so broken that it becomes mandatory, with every team running one, then absolutely. As it stands though, niche burst dps. Reminds me of the Mage nonsense you could get up to in Black Rook Hold, or the Warlock enslave pet Cathedral strat.r
r
Interesting write-up, thank you!

MM hunters can AOE with Aimed shot and Rapid Fire from 3 to 6 targets. LMFAO Blizzard

That is the problem. Blizz won’t look at how poor our single target is, all they will see is our amazing AOE and nerf it to a level in line with other classes. r
They’re short sighted with their nerfs and do not account for why something is, only that it is and they view it as too strong.

that is insane, sadly this is going to get nerfed ’cause people will complain their only 1 class can’t do this kinda burst. however i don’t think it’ll be nerfed to the ground as you need those mobs to start doing that damage, which means someone has to tank that many mobs and heal the tank from that many mobs. Very interesting i hope more of this kinda burst can be done by other classes to, no target caps please!

Nerf Mass grip to 5-10 targets while you are at it. Ridiculous that DK can simply ignore any rangers or casters, something that every other tanks has to deal with. Season 2 will be even more plagued by BDK due to these massive pulls and their ability to simply bring everything on top of each other while any other tanks need to LOS or use interrupt to silence 1 caster…

I doubt this will cause reactive nerfs because very few groups have the skill to consistently pull packs of 10+ and live. On content that’s challenging in players’ current gear, that requires a skilled tank, skilled healer, and skilled Unholy Death Knight, with well-coordinated timing for threat and defensive cooldowns; otherwise, the tank blows up, then the Unholy DK blows up, and the wipe follows immediately.r
r
If Blizzard was going to jerk the knee at Unholy DK scaling, they would’ve done it after the MDI finals.r
r
Most M+ groups will only see this scaling come into play on a handful of pulls during Teeming week. If the trash in Motherlode is slightly easier with an Unholy DK on certain affixes, that’s not being overpowered, that’s exactly the intent of having different affixes do different things. This would be like nerfing Misdirect because people want Hunters for Skittish weeks.

I do wish people would stop this. BFA already destroyed enough specs, don’t let the devs “Balance” more of the specs.r
r
If it needs fixing it needs fixing, wanting to keep something quiet so you and your buddies can use it while no-one else can means you believe it’s unintended, overpowered and would be fixed – so you’re then abusing a bug. Sharing it means you believe it’s creative use of game mechanics and fine until it’s changed. Keeping anything like this quiet is morally pretty dubious.r
r
If it get’s patched, it’s because it needed to be, enjoy the power while it lasts, but relying on secret tricks is not how to balance a spec.

That is the problem, they “fix” what they think needs fixing, but they then break 10 other things while “fixing” 1 thing. r
As Unholy, outside of CDs, our ST is quite laughable, however our AOE is great with big pulls. Blizzard’s “fix” would nerf our AOe heavily and leave our ST poor. r
r
We don’t win in this situation. This is why people don’t report these things, because we know Blizzard will break more than they fix and ruin the spec for everyone else. Right before a new tier as well.

AoE like this is VERY situational. You can only do a pull like this on a very small amount of dungeons as well as in raids even less. People always see things like this and scream “Nerf Inc” In some cases true, in others not so much. Ultimately, even if this article wasn’t written, Blizzard still looks at logs and watches streams of people and nerfs still happen that way, and sometimes there’s very little evidence to nerfs and why they happen and they still happen. Take it with a grain of salt. r
r
Trust me I too play a DK and wouldn’t want a very situational event of AoE be nerfed either cause this it’s honestly “fun”. But if it happens it does. (Maybe they will compensate and actually give Unholy DK’s some ST damage. HaHAA).

I remember back in Wrath when Unholy tanking felt like it was just “apply diseases, spread, Death and Decay, AFK for 20 seconds, repeat”.r

r
It’s true that classes are nerfed far too heavily at times, I won’t disagree, but articles like this are very interesting to those who don’t play the specified class-spec. We–or at least I–want to understand what everyone’s strengths and weaknesses are, how they “show off”, where they fall behind, and what is “normal” for them.r
r
The problem I see is that many in the greater WoW community overreact, throw tantrums like “I’m an X and can only do Y damage to Z many targets at a time. BLIZZ IS HORRIBLE! FIX THIS!” (Don’t. Just don’t.), instead of looking to constructively criticize–or better yet, introspect on how X can synergize, work along *with* them. Knowledge is power, but using it wisely is the key.

Mm, I understand where you are coming from. I don’t think they are likely to nerf typical AoE damage in any fix to stop the absurdly high amounts of AoE damage with tons of mobs, so I wouldn’t be worried, but I appreciate the nerfs and buffs from Blizzard don’t always make sense to us and it can be worrying. Unless you’re playing at the very top-end of content, most classes and most specs can contribute just fine and shouldn’t worry about what’s nerfed or buffed imo, if you’re at the top end then Blizzard over-doing a nerf or under-doing a buff certainly matters more and it makes sense to be concerned about it.

TBH and TBF should one class get awya when others got the shaft?r
r
yes, its not ideal, but its a big “FU” to those who got them nerfs.r
r
I already assume the MDI will have a majority of tank and dps DK specs and both will get nerfs following it. (thats why i expect it to be another boring one liek the last as there is no variety since classes arent balanced properly)
