Single Mom’s ‘Lucky Shot’ Of Royal Family On Christmas

Caralynn is a writer, native New Yorker, TV enthusiast, and dog mom to Hobbes.

The royal family has hundreds of professional and paparazzi photos of them taken nearly every day.

As high-profile public figures, it’s no surprise that they’re constantly in the limelight, with almost every move being captured on film. Fans of the royal family often look forward to the release of official royal family portraits for special occasions, often taken by Getty Images royal photographer Chris Jackson.

When it was revealed that Meghan Markle would be joining the Queen and the rest of the family for their Christmas festivities, followers were delighted at the prospect of seeing Prince William, Prince Harry, Kate Middleton, and Meghan all together on a public outing for the first time ever. But no one expected that the best picture of the day would come from someone who wasn’t even remotely a professional!

Single mom Karen Murdoch (also known under the name Karen Anvil on Twitter) made headlines with her stunning photo of the royal “Fab Four” — William, Harry, Kate, and Meghan — in their Christmas Day finest.

According to People, Karen is a Norfolk, England, native who lives near the Queen’s Sandringham Estate. She went by with her daughter, hoping to catch a glimpse of the royals (alongside hundreds of other royal family enthusiasts). But Karen managed to get the foursome’s attention just in time to capture an amazing photo.

“I’m just very bubbly by nature. And I was with my daughter, and I got a bit excitable, I suppose,” she explained to the BBC. “I was just sort of shouting, and I just went ‘Merry Christmas!’ like an idiot. I was fan-girling. That’s all I said and got them to look.”

The photo Karen managed to get is virtually perfect, with Harry, Meghan, and Kate each facing directly towards the camera to return Karen’s Christmas greeting and all four with a friendly smile on their faces.

Initially, the single mom just posted the photo on Twitter (where it quickly went viral) and was happily granting permission to any publication who wanted to use the picture for free. But then, helpful Twitter users pointed out that she could rightfully charge to license the wonderful picture and make money from it.

Now, TMZ reports that Karen has already made thousands (roughly $6,700) in profits, in just the few days after snapping the lucky shot — and that only includes money from the UK so far!

Karen explained to TMZ that, as a single parent who works two jobs to stay afloat, she intends to put the money towards her daughter’s college tuition and to pay for a trip to the United States for her teen’s 18th birthday.
