I really love how June’s big imagination pushes her to not give up on her dreams and to continue to dream big despite obstacles. I’m always trying to encourage my children to use their imaginations more and not hold their creativity back. What a perfect message this film sends to kids in such a digital age that they can be creative and imaginative!

Marble Track with Straws

How to make a Roller Coaster with Straws

June’s big imagination and this scene from the movie inspired my family to make our own Wonder Park coaster! I love the big thick twisty straws she has. I wish I found straws big enough to fit a marble or even a small bead. But either way, we had so much fun making our own replica version with bendy straws!

Supplies for Making a Straw Roller Coaster:

  • Bendy Straws
  • Hot glue gun and glue
  • Marble or bouncy ball
  • Empty cardboard box

Once we had our supplies, we just hot glued straw supports and bented and twisted the straws to make a unique track! In places the corners were too steep, just glue on another straw as a siderail support.

You can connect straws by cutting a small slit on one straw which will let you overlap the two.

In some spots, we added a small cut piece of a straw to add a little bit of strength and height, when needed.

Our Straw Roller Coaster has been a big hit! And now, we’re even more anxious to check out Wonder Park in person and see her creative roller coaster come to life!
