Juliana Lamar became pregnant while attending law school at Belmont University College of Law in Tennessee.
She was well on her way toward achieving all three of her life goals — to become a wife, a mother, and a lawyer — but her pending bundle of joy came with a string of logistical concerns.
Law school requires rigorous studying and a strict attendance policy. How would she make it to class while pregnant? What if she went into labor during a test? What if she had to miss her classes?
Juliana welcomed her baby boy, Beckham, in October 2018. The next day, she was back in the classroom — that’s how determined she was to get to the next steps of her career.
At the age of 27, Juliana was officially ready to be sworn in as a lawyer. Her loved ones gathered at the Tennessee Supreme Court to watch her being sworn in.
Also in attendance was her 1-year-old son, who was acting very fussy on mom’s big day.
And just as the ceremony was about to begin, Judge Richard Dinkins spotted baby Beckham among the attendees and walked right over and picked him up.
Watch the video below to see why Juliana hopes her story will inspire other women and young mothers to go for all of their dreams.
